FAQs about Passport Photos

Do I need to book an appointment?
Drop-ins are welcome. However, because I am a sole proprietor and a photographer, I sometimes need to step away from the gallery during my regular business hours. It is best that you call ahead to book an appointment.

How long does it take to get my passport photos?
From start to finish, it takes about 10 minutes. I’ll take your photo then print, cut and stamp them. Then you’re on your way.

What clothing should I wear?
Because there is a flash both behind and facing you to prevent shadows in your photos, it is best that you wear dark-coloured clothing. White is not a good colour for passport photos.

Will I be asked to remove my eyeglasses?
Yes. Although certain eye wear is acceptable for some passport photos, you will be photographed without them to ensure your photo is accepted and not cause any processing problems or delays with your application.

Do I need to bring any documents?
If you need a passport photo for another country other than Canada or the US, or for any other official photo, it is best that you bring any documents with you that give the required photo specifications. This will ensure proper sizing and stamping of your photos and prevent delays in the application process.

I am at work or unable to come to Buchanan Gallery during regular business hours. Can I have my passport photo taken at another time?
Yes, I would be glad to accommodate you in regards to an appointment outside my regular business hours. Just call ahead and I’ll do my best to work within your schedule.
